IX. The Hermit, pt2



With the help of B.O.T.A, A. E. Waite, Aleister Crowley, Joe Lisiewski, Christopher Hyatt, and Lon Milo Duquette, it began to emerge... or submerge, as you will find out...

Path 20, IX. The Hermit is the most esoteric path so far.
It represents the unknowable reality - the color of stuff in the mind's eye outside of the field of vision.
The color of the path is not black as in the BOTA deck.
The Rider-Waite deck is more accurate in the color depiction a sort of colorless gray - really should be the color of no color - but that's impossible to illustrate.

The Hermit represents the hidden (out of consciousness) initiator of all activity.

The invisible wind whose presense is observed by the reaction of other things to it,like the swaying of the trees, movement of water, etc.

Doc. Lisiewski's concept of this path is

 The movement of the One Consciousness through which the forces of the universe have been set in motion

 The one Consciousness (God?)'s movement (upon the waters?) set in motion all the currently known and unknown forces... That makes sense for the letter י.  Why is the letter י assigned to the 20th path from 4 to 6? why is it not assigned to path 11 from 1 to 2?

perhaps it has something to do with the quality of the energy and not so much with the content of the energy...

with my western mind I try to make sense by analysis and breaking down the system as a circuit.  And why not? this is a Western system.  But something still is not not quite making sense, not quite clicking... is the system flawed? or is there a deeper secret, an abstraction further removed from the sensory realm?

Every card reveals something more of the system, and for The Hermit, this is to where it leads...

For study I made note cards from the various books related to this path.  The are listed below in no particular order:

Blends the idea of the Ancient of Days with the Light of the World.
His beacom intimates that "Where I am, you also may be"
"The Unknown Philosopher"
The Divine Mysteries secure their own protection from those who are unprepared.

 Reverse:
excessive self-admonition or overcautiousness in important matters.
Ill advised activities, indiscreet behavior, concealment, disguise, policy, fear, unreasoned caution.

 Upright:
Deliberation, due to watchful attention, or a feeling of caution, a warning things are not as they seem.  Circumspection, treason, dissimulation, roguery, corrutpion

 The Furthering of Psychic Growth

 Most secret seed  of all Life's Serpent Plan, 
Virgin the hermit goes, dumb Guardian

 Wander alone; bearing the Light and they Staff. 
And be the light so bright that no man seeth thee.
Be not moved by aught without or within.
Keep silence in all ways.

 Illumination from within, secret impulse from within, pracitical plans derived accordingly.
Retirement from current events.
Perfect pattern of primal creation.
Phi - the seed of the Golden Ratio

 Hand - י creative instrument of the diety, like hand is a creative instrument of humans
Spermatozoon.
The movement of the One Consciousness through which the forces of the Universe have been set in motion.
Chakra #6

 Active Inspiration.
Divine wisdom from Above.

 First Masturbation fantasy.
Hand held out in action, symbol of creation.
Symbol of a flame detached from any material base, free, leaping creative impulse.
changes הוה (nonce, present tense, being, existing) into יהוה, the ineffable supreme

 He is the term of all our hopes.
The intelligence of Will.
Stands in darkness. Darkness: the incomprehensibility of the Supreme Reality. hidden, interior, subconscious field of the divine operation. The Ancient One is an abstraction, cold and far removed from the warmth of daily life.
A Cosmic messenger bringing movement and change into our lives.  
יצירה (yetzirah): marching forth, rising up, leading out
יום (yom): day
יצר: impulse

 to overcome a sense of inner enslavement or compulsion.

Return to the tree of life traverse, in reverse

 The World How interesting it is to look back when I finished at this point in March of 2018. More will be added later as this path unfolds. The way out is not the same as the way in. The way back in is not the same as the way out. Even when using the same doorway. June 6, 2021 it was necessary to prolong this path two extra weeks - but the effort paid off.  On the last day of the 2nd two week cycle the meaning of the path finally revealed itself.  As I was considering it to be the first stage of transcending מלכות this path is activated by the awareness that all observable things, all phenomena, all processes in the universe are reflections of a transcendent "thing".  All that we see is  a pointer, a reference to an archetypal idea. Its the idea of the analogy that as 3 dimensional objects leave a 2 dimensional shadow, 4 dimensional objects leave a 3 dimensional shadow - our world. The world that we live, move, and "exist" in is a shadow of.... what? This ...

The High Priestess: jachin and boaz

He erected the pillars at the portico of the temple. The pillar to the south he named Jakin and the one to the north Boaz.  - 1 Kings 7:21 The Letter Gimel is assigned to the High Priestess - Path 13 from Kether to Tiphareth.  According to the Kabbalah Deck which is a very brief summary of Sefer Yetzirah, Gimel embodies the vital qualities of both kindness and growth... The Sun, The Moon, The Star, The Tower

  This is where we are now. each path can be best understood in relation to the other paths and the sephirot which they connect. yet each has a similar meaning, or a deepening of the same meaning. The deeper meaning. When we traversed the path of the Universe we realized the oneness of All. The realization is further elucidated by the path of Judgement which wakes up the latencies, the forgotten dead to realize that oneness... but to get there, the ordeal of The Moon path must be passed. The deceitful nature of self-delusion, the ability to walk through the 2 towers and comprehend that which is beyond duality. the realization itself is The Sun card. A glimpse of higher intelligence is now at hand with The Star card. The star card reminds us that the black iron tower of the mind is neither black nor iron and can be dissolved. The star card shows that it is not as tightly sealed and is "leaky". the shattering completes with The Tower card.
